The workshop is located on the entire first floor of the SCHEER world. Each room breathes the past 200 years’ history and the young craftsmen’s boundless energy – the heart of the company and pride of the family Scheer – is noticeable throughout. It takes many years for an apprentice to internalise the infinite SCHEER knowledge of orthopaedics, craft, aesthetics and design, and thus become a master shoemaker.
The smell of natural leather lingers in the air, musical sounds radiate from the old sewing machines, and a certain rhythm is in the hammering, lasting, and clicking of the leather. Words on the progress and individualisation of shoes are exchanged in a muted whisper, and every now and then, the old wooden floor creaks.
Highly focussed, honest and intimate – that is what SCHEER craftsmanship is all about.
